Something of Interest in My community
Well in my community I have always thought that no matter what sport you play or activity that you do, you will always have strong competition from peers. Whether it is the debate team or the varsity hockey team, there is so much competition among students. I myself attended Blake School for a year and the numbers at Blake are incredibly scarce compared to Edina. If one wanted to join a sport, they most likely would have no problem ending up in a varsity position by senior year. If somebody wanted to join mock trial, then they could easily jump right into it and end up lettering in the subject without any problems. With competition like the kind that exists in Edina, no such thing would be possible. Even if you aren't top of the line at whatever you do, Edina is good at providing alternate opportunities for individuals to have fun yet some sports or clubs don't offer an alternative if you don't quite make the cut. It leads me to think that competition isn't always the most beneficial that exists at a big school like Edina yet it does prepare us for the real world and motivates some students to really reach out and succeed in their endeavors.
